Storm Damage 06-04-09

A tornado report came in to the NWS via phone a couple of days ago. I was working EMS in a neighboring county but saw the storm that prompted the call. Structure looked good, nice light show as it was almost 9pm. didn't find out about it until the next day that damage had occurred. So yesterday morning I grabbed the camera bag and headed up after giving the Tallahassee NWS a call and letting them know of my intentions. Green light given and away we go...On arrival or should I say after I drove past the damage (turning around) area I found minor straight line wind damage. The local NBC affiliate was already there which surprised me considering the light damage, but I was already there so pics were taken. I was taking pics and even was asked by the reporter to operate the camera for her so she could grab a quick moving shot of the damage while reporting. I parked away from the damage area but wound up being interviewed again. Been on the news lots of times with this station and they are real nice group of people.


Never turn your back on a stormchaser with a camera though..;-) Karen was a super nice person and had a great sense of humor..
